Tree planting weekend - volunteers needed!

Higher Druid is 22 beautiful acres of land above Ashburton consisting of 7 acres of mature mainly beech wood, 10 acres being planted to new native woodland under the Forestry Commission Woodland Creation Grant Scheme and 3 smaller fields that will be planted with a mixture of coppice and standard and woody shrubs for the future harvest of timber, fuel and non-timber forest products.

Interest free loans for community transition projects now available from the Totnes Pound group.

The Totnes Pound group has a healthy bank account from the sale of all the Totnes pounds that are currently in circulation and has decided that a proportion of the money should be put to work.

An ambitious and ground-breaking plan by the TTT Building & Housing Group to develop 15-20 low carbon affordable homes on the edge of Totnes looks as if it could really take off.

Around 20 people joined the procession up to the Civic Square where the trial took place.

Growing New Businesses - meeting notes 13 Jan 09

Attendees: Jacqi Hodgson, Gerry Granshaw, Mark Bevan, Chris Bird, Steph Bradley, Andrew Baldrey & Fiona Ward

The focus of the meeting was to look at ways to generate income for TTT core costs, which are approx £30,000 per year (admin salary, rent, utilities, insurance, consumables, printing costs etc). We want to move from ‘asking to earning’ and start to be more self-reliant.

Focussing on economics, livelihoods and waste issues, this workshop will build on the 2030 visions developed at last November's open workshops.  Discussions will create imaginative pathways for building a low energy localised society with a low carbon footprint resilient to oil depletion and the credit crunch.
