Community Health and Wellbeing Garden Project - Planning Meeting
Submitted by TTTAdmin on 24 June 2008 - 2:08pm.
The TTT Health and Wellbeing Group invite you to discuss the possibility of developing a Community Garden Project. This is something we have been discussing as a group and also came up at the recent meeting on Community Supported Agriculture. Aims of the garden would include growing local (organic) food to sell to local people, bringing together local people / groups (eg schools, the elderly) and providing an opportunity for physical activity (for example through 'exercise prescriptions' / 'green gym' initiative) to maintain health and wellness. Essential to such an initiative would be involvement of local medical care practices - see for example a wonderful initiative at a practice in Kent - click here.
Date and time:
2 Jul 2008 - 7:30pm
Venue:
TTT Offices
Another more local initiative is the Digginit project in Plymouth - see here.
There is also the potential to have University students (health visitors / social workers) on placements in such a garden to provide advice and support.
