Food Group Agenda

 Food Group Meeting 2nd November

Introduction

Food seems to be getting a high profile at the moment and there is lots happening, both locally and in terms of national media interest. TTT's food group has not met since a rather disappointing meeting at the end of the summer when only Wendy and I turned up, but I have the impression that a number of new people are planning to attend on Monday and I thought it would be a good oportunity to take a longer term view of the group's activities and structure.
I have prepared an agenda for the meeting which will give time for updates on current projects as well as time to hear about the many new initiatives that are happening. I propose that we use the food gorup meeting as an opportunity to co-ordinate the different groups that operate to encourage people in the feeling that their efforts are part of an overall movement rather than isolated without attempting to control what is happening in a way that would stifle creativity and enthousiasm or bog people down in endless meetings without a clear aim.
I suggest that we take time to hear from everyone who comes about their own interest and reason for coming first, then hear brief reports from current projects and an upcoming events and then give time for more information about the energy descent plan process and the food mapping project. If you are particularly interested in pursuing one of the projects there are specific meetings coming up, as follows:
  1. Public Meeting re. closure of farmers market - 12th November 7pm Guild Hall (Town Councils Offices)
  2. Open Space Day - food and health - 22nd November 11am - 3pm Civic Hall
  3. EDP Future Scenarios Workshop - 29th November 2.30- 4.30pm Methodist Church
  4. Meeting for volunteers to participate in food mapping project - Date and time to be confirmed. (contact jenny on jenny_gellatly@hotmail.com)
