Each house will be analysed in terms of the challenges it presents for the aspiring retrofitter, materials and techniques that might be appropriate, and the interventions that would save the most energy the fastest.

Rob McLeod lived in Totnes until his recent appointment as Advisory cojnsultant to the Buildings Research Establishment in Wales, charged with breinging all new development up to 'zero carbon' level by 2011.
