Growing a new Transition business: an E&L sub-group
Please click here for the meeting minutes.
This is a meeting to discuss forming a new sub-group of Economics & Livelihoods. This sub-group will nurture and support the creation of new transition related businesses. These will generate revenue for individuals and/or for transition initiatives themselves.
This meeting follows on from a workshop on July 8th that was arranged by TTT project support and delivered by Linda Screen from Transition Dorchester.
Please see the write-up from the workshop here. After the workshop several people expressed an interest in meeting again to continue this work, and start to address some related issues. We talked about forming a new sub-group of the Economics & Livelihoods Group - not limited to TTT only of course but any other transition folks who want to join. From our discussions on the night, I suggest the following agenda items:
- Aim of the group - a practical focus? - e.g. primarily to support each other in developing viable new products/services, figuring out what help is needed and how to get it, then making it happen. We will decided how often we we should meet and why.
- What support should/could be provided to support this transition related product/service development - from ideas thru to launch (including existing funded orgs like Enterprise South Devon and Business Link).
- Should we repeat the 'ideas' workshop for other groups/projects? If so which ones, who will do it, when etc.
- Issues of ownership of a business idea, endorsement, use of TTT branding, intellectual property/copyright etc (Finn has drafted some thoughts on this which will be forwarded separately).
- Criteria of a 'Transition Business' e.g. structure, profit sharing models etc.
- Others....
If you would like to come along and be involved from the very start of this sub-group, then please contact Fiona at economicsandlivelihoods.totnes@transitionnetwork.org you will be very welcome.
