Brief description (3 lines max):
Building with local materials may capture our romantic impulses, but the trend is catching on forgeing new attitudes to how we live, plan and build homes of the future.  Self-build can be driven by passion as well as economy and visionary expression of living lightly on the earth.  This workshop will also explore our lower energy future in terms of how we produce and conserve energy for commercial and domestic needs

Will we still be building houses when oil is scarce?

What might future housing look like?

Where will we get our building materials?

How many solar panels do we need?

Is wind energy the only option?

How much oil is left?

How expensive will home heating be in 2030?

These are just some of the questions we will be discussing at this thought provoking workshop

Who should attend? Are you a builder, DIY enthusiast, carpenter, plumber, electrician, planner, engineer, architect, interested in renewable energy or thinking about solar panels on your roof  or geologist?– this workshop is for you.

Come along for some informal conversations about the future of our community.  Find out about the Totnes & District Energy Descent Action Plan 2030 being put together and have YOUR SAY.  These workshops will be enjoyable and creative.  All participants will have the opportunity to find out more about these important issues, assess their own energy usage and get some tips on reducing energy.
